Dear Editor:

I consider myself privileged to have known Stephanie Hawke for much of her life and I am exceptionally pleased that she is running for District #89’s seat in the Maine House of Representatives.

Stephanie held this seat for four years and was a strong advocate for all members of our community regardless of party affiliation. She is a practical, hands-on business owner, wife, mother, and grandmother and a tireless volunteer for various groups who benefit from her expertise, energy and innate drive to HELP others. As the owner of Hawke Motors, she understands the importance of a strong economy and has direct experience coping with the mounting challenges of running a local business.

Stephanie’s husband and two sons are commercial lobstermen so she knows the negative impact that the current rules and regulations will have on the future of this vital industry. Stephanie’s concern for our children’s future is demonstrated by her ongoing membership in the local school board. She actively supports our veterans through her involvement in the activities of the American Legion. She is a pivotal member of the Rebuilding Together team that works to keep local families in their homes through needed home repair and maintenance projects.

Stephanie’s call to serve our community is borne from a desire to help others by putting the “serve” back into this important public service position. Stephanie isn’t running for office because she needs a regular paycheck or is looking for a photo opportunity – she is running because she is genuinely concerned about the members of our community and what our future holds if we don’t have change in Augusta.

I can think of no one better suited to represent the interests of District #89 and if you don’t believe me, give Stephanie a call. You will find a genuine, compassionate, caring and practical person who answers her phone, has her own ideas and opinions and articulates her views in a way that reflects every member of our district. I cannot think of a better candidate and I encourage you to join me in supporting Hawke for the House!
