Hannaford donates $1,000 to BRES
Boothbay Region Elementary School has received a $1,000 donation through the Hannaford Helps Schools program. In a brief ceremony May 11, Hannaford representatives Ben Convery and Evelyn Andrews presented Principal Mark Tess with a check.
“We like it when they throw money at us,” said Tess. “It really helps.”
According to Convery, the money can be used for any purpose the school deems necessary.
“I'm the son of two elementary school teachers. The budgets never get bigger, they get smaller,” said Convery. “It's a great way to pay it forward.”
Shoppers can choose from more than 1,200 participating products to help earn money for a particular school. Three school dollars are earned for every four participating products purchased. The school dollars go in a collection tower in-store. BRES got the most votes, making it the winner.
