A late fourth quarter goal by Hall-Dale’s Kiley Rolfe broke a 1-1 tie and the visiting Bulldogs went on to defeat the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 2-1, in field hockey at Perkins Field on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10.
Rolfe scored the eventual game winner with just under four minutes to play (3:48). Boothbay had a chance to try and tie the game by entering a penalty corner with no time on the clock, but Hall-Dale gained possession and cleared the scoring zone.
Senior co-captain Cortney Meader got Boothbay’s goal at 4:48 in the first quarter. The second quarter remained scoreless but the Bulldogs tied the game early in the third quarter on a goal by Averi Baler at 14:25.
This season’s games are 15-minute quarters, rather than the normal 30-minute halves.
Boothbay lost its third game of the season. Its next game is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. at Lincoln Academy. The Seahawks’ next home game is Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. against Oak Hill.
