Group seeks ARPA funds for affordable housing project

A brief, but impactful meeting is expected when the Boothbay select board convenes Sept. 14. A local group will request a portion of Boothbay’s American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funding for an affordable housing project. On Sept. 13, Town Manager Dan Bryer reported he has worked with the group, a registered 501(c)3 entity, for several months. “I’m not sure of all the details, but they have a plan and will ask for funding (Wednesday) night,” he said.

In other action, selectmen will hold the second of two public hearings on the November referendum. The only local question pertains to whether flouridization should be added to the drinking water. Last month, six Boothbay region residents urged voters to vote no on “Shall fluoride be added to the public water supply for the intended purpose of reducing tooth decay?”

Selectmen will also receive longtime Boothbay Region Cemetery District Trustee Stanley Lewis’retirement notification.

Selectmen meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room.
