Griffing next on Burnt Island’s ‘Return of the Keepers’ summer series
Former Lighthouse Keeper Randy Griffing, and his wife Anna, have returned to Burnt Island to share their life experiences while living here as a young couple, from 1974-1977.
When you see them on the island, ask about their duties, pets, the whale, and the famous tire swing that still serves young and old alike.
They will provide afternoon tours (12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m.) of the restored lighthouse and dwelling on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Public tours are available Mondays and Thursdays from 2 to 4:30 p.m. with reservations made through the Balmy Days Cruises (207-633-2284). Walk-ons are welcome to join the public tour for a fee of $17.
The “Return of the Keepers” is sponsored by the nonprofit organization “Keepers of the Burnt Island Light.” (www.keepersofburntislandlight.com)
