A great New Year’s Brunch

Mon, 01/06/2020 - 3:15pm

Dear Editor:

The American Legion Post #36, Auxiliary, and Sons would like to offer many thank yous to all the New Year's Brunch attendees, and crews tending to decorating, set up, serving, cooking, baking and clean up. These community events cannot be as successful without your support! We are proud to say, as our menu options have grown, so has our attendance level. Best turnout for a Brunch in years!

With veteran assistance and support being the #1 goal that drives the Legion families, we strive to provide continued hope, compassion, awareness and constant vigilance to help meet the needs of a very wide spectrum of services for our veterans. Their service has enabled all of us to grow as individuals, families, groups and communities. For this, our veterans cannot be thanked enough!

It is with this service in mind that we continue on in the hope of reaching out to each and every veteran in need. In its first public presentation, intentionally at a local level, the Veteran Emergency

Temporary Shelter (V.E.T.S) concept was unveiled. Much is yet to be said and done to raise awareness for this project. Watch for updates, but let it be known … it started here … at a small American Legion Hall #36, in a community known as the Boothbay area. We are proud to help tackle the needs of our homeless veterans here in the state of Maine and possibly reaching outside to neighboring states in the future. Anyone wishing to contribute to this cause can forward tax deductible donations or offer hands on assistance with future trailer builds. Please mail to John Hargreaves, P.O. Box 402, East Boothbay, ME 04544. to the attention of Sons of the American Legion.

On behalf of the Boothbay American Legion, Auxiliary and Sons, we wish you all a very happy and healthy 2020. Toether we can make a day a little brighter, share a smile, reach out to someone in need, embrace a worthy cause.

Suzanne Harmon
