Graduation schedule and activities
Per a memo from Boothbay Region High School Principal Daniel Welch, here is a list of dates, activities, brief descriptions and dress requirements of Boothbay Region High School class of 2017 graduation activities.
The senior class purchases caps and gowns, which may be kept by the graduates. Girls should wear white shoes for all activities and dresses and skirts under the gowns. Boys should wear white shirts, dark ties, black trousers, black shoes (with black soles) and black socks under the gowns. During the Grand March, boys should wear black socks with tuxedos.
June 1, Thursday, at 6:15 p.m., the Rotary Club is sponsoring a dinner for seniors only. Dress is semi-formal.
June 4, Sunday, at 2 p.m., the Baccalaureate Program will be held at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. At 6 p.m., the Alumni Dinner will be held at the Boothbay Region Elementary School.
June 6, Tuesday, at 5:30 p.m., the local Masonic chapter will host a cookout for the senior class. Scholarships will be presented to selected seniors. Casual dress.
June 8, Thursday, at 8 a.m., Teacher Awards will be presented in the BRHS gymnasium. Open to the public. All Teacher Awards to seniors and underclassmen to be given.
June 8, at 7 p.m., Awards and Honors Exercise. Open to the public. Seniors will wear caps and gowns. Honors and awards to seniors and underclassmen will be given at this activity.
June 9, Friday, 8 a.m., Class Day Program. Friends, relatives, and the general public are invited to attend. Seniors will wear caps and gowns.
June 9, Friday, 2 p.m., Graduation exercise. Reserved seating for parents only on a first come, first served basis. Doors will not open until 1 p.m. and no seats may be reserved ahead of time. The National Honor Society Stoles and Top Student Cords are the property of BRHS and must be returned to the main office immediately after photographs are taken.
June 9, Friday, 8 p.m., Grand March and Alumni Ball. For parents and graduates. Both are to arrive at 7:30 p.m. Boys will wear white dinner jackets. Girls will wear white, floor-length gowns. Tuxedos are rented at a cost of approximately $80. Please make all checks payable to the Boothbay Region High School. Tuxedos will be distributed Tuesday or Wednesday and must be returned to the main office immediately following the ball before leaving the building.
June 9, Friday, 10 p.m. Project Graduation. Seniors will leave the Alumni Ball for the Project Graduation trip.
