Gloria Knapp, 86, peacefully passed away Jan. 23, 2023 with her family by her side.

Gloria was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to parents Maxine Brewer and Guy Dodge. The family soon moved back to Maine where Gloria attended the East Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor schools.

Gloria married Ralph Knapp Feb. 13, 1954 and settled in East Boothbay where they raised their sons and numerous much loved dogs. Gloria worked at many local businesses but is probably best remembered for her time spent at Hannaford. It was her favorite place to work as she made many friends with staff and customers. Gloria especially loved celebrating Christmas and Halloween, encouraging children who went through her checkout lane to trick or treat at her wonderfully decorated home.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband Ralph, grandson Jonathan Knapp and bonus grandson, Aaron Pearce.

Gloria is survived by her brother Royal (Eleanor) Dodge of East Boothbay, her son Larry (Mary) of Boothbay and grandchildren Brian Pearce, Caleb Knapp and Carrie Knapp, and son Martin (Becky) of East Boothbay; and grandchildren Caroline Knapp Cushing, Ashley Charron and Tyler Charron. Gloria is also survived by nieces and several great-grandchildren. 

A celebration of Gloria’s life will occur at a later date. The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Andrews Nursing Home for the loving and wonderful care they bestowed on Gloria while she was there.
