Garden Club installs new officers

The Boothbay Region Garden Club held its annual luncheon meeting, Wednesday, June 12 under sunny skies at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club and installed the following new officers for the 2019-2020 membership year. Linda Bonin, president; Susan Stapleton, first vice president; Irene Fowle, second vice president; Irene Gerny, recording secretary; and Sandra Abernathy, treasurer,.

The incoming president chooses the theme for the year and Bonin’s is “Getting to Know You.” In keeping with the theme, monthly programs will be presented by in-house experts, club members who have a wealth of knowledge about all facets of gardening. The club meets on the second Wednesday (most months) at St. Columba’s Church, Boothbay Harbor. Beginning July 10, the first meeting of the new season will open with a light lunch at noon followed by the business meeting and program. Member Judy Millinowski, practitioner and qigong instructor, will give an overview of the application of meditation and qigong to gardening with a sense of peace and tranquility.

The annual BRGC Home and Garden Tour will take place July 19. Tickets are on sale now at the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce for $30 but will be $35 on tour day. Tickets can also be purchased directly from Irene Gerny (633-5052) or Pat McMurry (633-7405). Only cash or checks will be accepted for payment. Buy early as the tour is always sold out.
