In late March 1997, the staffs of the Boothbay Register and Wiscasset Newspaper staff were featured in a full-page layout entitled Fun at Work. The lead-in copy read:

“April 1 is not only April Fool’s Day, it’s also National Fun At Work Day, designed to spice up the workplace with fun, laughter and a playful attitude. What better time for us to show off our staff and say how proud we are of our newspaper family. We’ve got some of the most experienced men and women in the business, and if they don’t have a sense of humor, the newspaper profession would definitely not be a wise career choice.”

Each staff member had something written about them, including then-publisher Marylouise Cowan.

Times were good and we had a good time.

We have added a few photos of others who weren’t staff members but were here to enjoy the fun and to help out with advice and maintenance.

Several of these people have passed on but the fun we had with each lingers 25 years later.
