The Friends of the Harbor Theatre, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, will hold its annual meeting at the theater on Wednesday, July 5 at 5 p.m. to announce plans to purchase and operate The Harbor Theatre effective Sept. 27, 2017, the date the current theater’s lease expires.

Current theater owner Jason Sheckley will continue to manage the cinema’s operations as an employee of The Friends.

Board president Bob Devine said, “We will need a broad community campaign to save the theater, a critical Boothbay peninsula asset. That includes support at both the board and individual membership levels. We look forward to discussing details July 5.”
