Fresh blooms brighten the day

This is the time of year that finds Maine gardens at their peak performance and also, not coincidentally, the month of the year that the Garden Therapy team of the Boothbay Region Garden Club traditionally takes advantage of the brilliant colors and variety of blooms to bring live cut flowers from their home gardens into the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village for residents to enjoy.

Turning the gift of flowers into a participatory exercise, the team provides vases, necessary tools and guidance to assist residents of Gregory Wing and Safe Havens in creating their own arrangements that will help beautify their living environment, with live bouquets distributed throughout common areas and residents’ rooms.

The Garden Therapy team continues to seek new members to join in this rewarding outreach to the community. If you wish to become a member of BRGC and help in this worthy endeavor, contact Sandra Abernathy (633-0392) or Alice Schambra (633-7162) to get started. Seasonal residents are always welcome.
