Free Clothing Closet closes for two weeks
The Free Clothing Closet will close Saturday, Aug. 16 for restocking and repairs.
A new line of fall and winter clothing will be available when the closet reopens Wednesday, Sept. 3, 10-4.
Our summer crew of volunteers worked diligently to keep the closet stocked and sorted during June, July and August. Many thanks to Joyce Armendaris, Jen Auber, David Butterworth, Bawn Clifton, Edee Crosby, Barb Harle, Stephanie Hawke, Jean Hawley, Cindy Holton, Nancy McCullough, Judy Muller and Audrey Riley.
A special thanks to Barb Harle who organized the closet by sizes, making it easier for all to find what they need. Look for her signs, and choose from your size range.
Thanks also to Ham Meserve for picking up clothes at the Boothbay Waste Management Facility drop box and delivering to the church for sorting every week, and for David Butterworth for substituting for a few weeks in June.
The Free Clothing Closet is now accepting fall and winter clothing at the blue drop box, located next to the garbage collection station at the dump. Please remember to bag your clothing. No household items accepted. Sweaters, coats and boots are especially needed for the winter.
The Closet is operated under the auspices of the United Methodist Church, Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor, and is located in the parking lot behind the church. The Closet is open Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-4p.m., throughout the year.
We are always grateful to Ward Muller, church warden, and Ami Sawtelle, pastor, for their continued help and support.
All are welcome. The closet is stocked with plenty of clothes for men, women and children. Please take what you need and leave enough for others. We ask that you limit your choices to two of the bags provided by the front door.
