The old Boothbay Harbor Country Club clubhouse was demolished on Monday, Oct. 19. Work started around 6 a.m. and continued through the day.
The old log cabin was built around 1926, according to Boothbay Region Historical Society historian Barbara Rumsey. The clubhouse was “in bad shape” and “not structurally sound” according to BHCC owner Paul Coulombe.
The former clubhouse also lacked many of the amenities Coulombe felt it should house, such as locker rooms and a large dining area and kitchen.
The new clubhouse being built will be around 32,000 square feet with a large kitchen and updated dining area. There will be men’s and women’s locker rooms, a first floor space to charge electrical golf carts, and office spaces.
