Maine Forest Service’s Dan Welch conducted a training session April 12 at the Boothbay Fire Station for firefighters from Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport departments. Welch, a forest ranger for the Forest Service for the past five years, provided information on using the correct tactics, tools and equipment for fighting woods fires.
The training session was held the evening after a morning fire near a wooded area off Back Narrows Road in Boothbay was quickly extinguished by the Boothbay Fire Department.
