A footbridge lighting idea
Dear Editor:
I know I’m not the person to be writing this letter to the editor: first, I am from away so my opinion doesn’t count; second, I’m a crackpot artist (i.e. I paint neither Maine landscapes or seascapes). So, what do I know?
I have, for some time, put off offering my opinion on the matter in the hope someone of more suitable background would address the issue. Alas, no luck.
The new iteration of the old footbridge is an unqualified success! Congratulations to all who were responsible for this effort. One small thing though, regarding the lighting. I realized it can produce a number of colors and effects. That’s fine, but for “regular” use I would suggest that the bridge should be lit with the simple, old fashioned yellow-white color that matches the typical lighting in the town and its buildings at night carrying that continuity across the water and binding the two sides of the town together.
However, on special occasions, like the fireworks displays or night boat parades, etc., whoever makes such decisions may be as creative as they care to be with this versatile lighting system!
That’s this man’s humble opinion.
