Flags placed on veterans’ graves
Dear Editor:
Last Saturday, the American Legion, area Boy and Girl Scouts, and other volunteers place the American flags on each of the veterans graves at our local cemeteries. These flags will stay out until June 11. It is inevitable that we will miss a grave, although every effort is made to ensure this doesn't happen. But, if you know of veteran's grave that doesn't have a flag, call the Hall at 633-4487 and leave your contract information. Someone will call you back to get the veteran's name and location of the grave in the cemetery.
We also know that some flags are placed by family members at their expense and want their flags out all year. It is very possible that those flags will be picked up on June 11 if we aren't notified otherwise. If we do take the flag, call the Hall and let us know and we will replace it immediately. Thank you all in advance for your support in this especially meaningful time when we remember those who served.
