Fitch says farewell
Selectman Ken Fitch bid farewell to his constituents and fellow selectmen Oct. 26. Fitch announced his resignation at the Sept. 28 meeting.
Fitch thanked the board for his first experience as an elected official and thanked voters who gave him a chance. He said he will still be involved with Boothbay Harbor.
“I hope that in this year and a half that I represented you well. I will miss Boothbay Harbor very much. This is a very special place, but changes have to happen and this is one of them. I am leaving with very, very fond memories. Thank you all. It’s been a wonderful experience.”
Election
Town Clerk Michelle Farnham said 774 and counting absentee ballots have been requested and the town has received 681 of the ballots from voters to date. Farnham said the 2016 election had 441 absentee ballot requests out of 1,402 voters.
Oct. 29 is the last day to request a ballot out of the office and Oct. 30 is the last day to vote early and in person before Election Day, Nov. 3. Farnham said she is requesting anyone with an absentee ballot mail them at least seven days ahead of time so they make it by Election Day.
Said Selectman Wendy Wolf, “Mail your absentee ballots today just to make sure they arrive here by Election Day.”
Farnham said grant money has let the town set up a tent, provide crowd control help, and possibly have heaters outside as people wait for their turn to vote.

Wolf said Healthy Lincoln County will hold a drive-through farm stand at Boothbay Town Common Thursday Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Said Chair Mike Tomko, “This is a collaborative effort between Healthy Lincoln County, community organizations, the (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and other county elements. It's to provide nutrition and sustenance for all families. Everyone is welcome to come and get a box.”
Selectmen approved a liquor license renewal for Brady’s and a new outdoor event license for Harbor Theater Movie Night. Town Manager Julia Latter also announced paving on Sunset Road and Kennyfield Drive is complete and sewer manhole covers are now “vehicle friendly.”
