First Community Lunch draws over 70
Over 70 people attended the first Community Lunch on Monday at Brady's. Friends, family, and complete strangers gathered to enjoy a hot meal and fellowship while at the same time helping fellow community members get a hand up after a fire destroyed their homes on Oct. 9.
Over $700 was raised along with donations of gift cards, clothing, and household items for the family of Billy Morton and Vi Lee.
A family from the Tampa Bay, Florida area wandered in and were welcomed with open arms to join the festive group. They mingled and ate food (the baby ate a pat of butter and was happy as a clam) As they were leaving, they thanked everyone for being so welcoming and were going to introduce the idea in their hometown when they returned.
Next Monday's lunch will hosted by Hallinan's Catering at Brady's featuring Beef Burgundy, Haddock Chowder, and a pasta dish. All are welcome!
If you would like to volunteer any week, please call Tancy Mitchell 592-0660. There are weeks available in February and March to host a lunch if you have a business or group who would like to participate, call Tancy!
