Fireworks on August 24 and 29
Thu, 08/21/2014 - 8:00am
There will be two local fireworks displays during the last week in August.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, for the first time in over 50 years, there will be a fireworks display in East Boothbay over the Damariscotta River (across from Ocean Point Marina). The show, concluding the town of Boothbay's three-day 250th anniversary celebration, will begin at around 8 p.m.
On Friday, Aug. 29, Boothbay Harbor will hold its fireworks display at around 8:30 p.m. in the usual location in the outer harbor. Both the Windjammer Days (June 25) and Fourth of July displays were postponed due to weather; and officials decided to hold the displays during the week-long Harbor Fest (Aug. 29-Sept. 7). Rain dates are Aug. 31 or Sept. 1.
