Festival of Trees celebration is a tribute to community
On behalf of the Boothbay Region Garden Club, I would like to extend sincere thanks to all those in the community who contributed to our 2019 Festival of Trees event. Donations consisted of decorated trees, paintings, gift certificates and additional items for the silent auction, handmade tree ornaments created by local youth, items for direct sale at our four festival “shops”: The Sweet Shop, On Table and Mantel, ETC, and Nature’s Gifts.
Proceeds from the Festival are used to support our many community outreach programs, which include our Garden Therapy Program at St. Andrews Village, youth education programs, college and YMCA camp scholarships, holiday wreaths, planted window boxes for municipal buildings, Blue Star Memorial Marker maintenance, and public gardens around the Boothbay Common. At the close of the Festival all of the handmade ornaments made by our local youth are used to decorate numerous Christmas trees which are then donated to deserving families in the community.
The volume of support this year for our Festival of Trees exceeded any previous year and is a tremendous tribute to this wonderful community.
