Either/Or
Dear Editor:
Recently, Paul “I was Trump before Trump” LePage was asked if he would advocate for statewide policies limiting women’s right to make their own healthcare choices, should he be re-elected as governor.
“I don’t have time for abortion. It’s that simple,” he retorted. “Abortion affects few.”
He was either telling the truth or prevaricating; it’s hard to know which is worse.
If he truly believes that the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, a decision that endangers the lives and financial security of millions of American women, is not worth his time to consider its impact on half of Maine’s population, he is an astonishingly uncaring, shallow individual.
If he lacks the courage to answer this important question in a forthright manner, he is clearly unworthy to serve yet another term as our governor.
In either case, we must re-elect Governor Janet Mills in November.
