Driver flown to Maine Med after Boothbay crash

    A Brooklyn, New York man was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland by LifeFlight after an accident near the Boothbay Post Office on Corey Lane around 2:45 p.m. Sept. 1, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

    Ryan Ebeling, 45, was driving a Ford F-150 when the accident occurred, taking down a light pole, according to Lt. Brendan Kane. Kane said a Lowe’s delivery truck driven by Edwin Cabrera, 39, from Weeki Wachee, Florida, and registered in Maine, was also involved.

    Ebeling sustained a hip and leg injury, Kane said. As reported in the Register, first responders including Boothbay Fire Department and Boothbay Region Ambulance freed Ebeling from the vehicle. His wife Jill was a passenger; Michel Hernandez from Brandon, Florida, was a passenger in the Lowe’s truck, according to Kane; neither person in the Lowe’s truck was injured. 

    Kane said the cause of the accident is still being investigated, but it could possibly be due to vehicle defects.
