Down East Yacht Club
On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Isle of Springs Road was once again lined with cars. At 53 Isle of Springs Road, the beautiful home of John and Sharon Ryan was teeming with activity. A welcoming fire in the outdoor fireplace set the tone for the gathering. Festivities were in full swing before the advertised starting time of 5 p.m. Soon 50 plus DEYC members and guests were enjoying stories and appetizers with each other.
The home could have been specifically designed for such events. The open and circular layout made it easy for the crowd to spread out and mix with everyone in attendance. Their home was extremely welcoming with two delightful fireplaces burning in different rooms. A space off the kitchen was the designated area for beverages. The hosts provided openers, ice, mixers and a variety of drinking receptacles.
A generous display of food covered three tables. A luscious carved turkey platter supplied by the Ryans served as the main dish. It was surrounded by a medley of delicious culinary contributions offered by the party guests.
Gracious host John Ryan and his wife Sharon expressed gratitude to their guests for making the effort to be present and they extended an invitation to remain as long as they wished past the published end time. Several lively conversations covered a variety of subjects.
Commodore Brent Pope addressed the group with upcoming deadlines and asked everyone to please update their website profiles so the 2023 DEYC Roster would contain current information. He announced the Christmas Party would be held at Water’s Edge in Edgecomb on the second floor. He thanked our hosts and recognized several past commodores, current board members and new club members.
As is normal, the gathering continued well beyond the advertised time.
Until “The Christmas Party,” may everyone enjoy calm seas, favorable winds and clear skies.
