Boothbay Harbor candidate profile

Devyn Campbell running for one-year selectman’s term

Address: 16 McKown St.

Occupation: Commercial fisherman

Education: Boothbay Region High School

Political history: none

Clubs/organizations: Boothbay Harbor Waterfront Preservation, Eastside Waterfront Park

Considering the position you are running for, what do you feel are the three most pressing issues?

First, affordable housing is almost impossible to find in this town and year round rentals can take years to find. Second, year round employment – I’d like to find a way for people not to have to go elsewhere to find work in the winter after their summer job here is over. Third, working waterfront access and commercial maritime viability – Boothbay Harbor supports the commercial fishing fleets of Boothbay, Southport and Trevett. Protecting the interests of our fishermen and their families will be forefront during my service on the board.

Any other thoughts on why you are running or what you bring to the office?

I can bring forth the voice of a young person hoping to have a future in this town, a voice of the commercial marine industry, of our fishermen, of our marine construction contractors and boat builders – and of someone who was born here and loves everything that makes our town great.
