‘Defenses Along the Kennebec: Four Forts One Story’ lecture at Colonial Pemaquid July 30

On Monday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m., The Friends of Colonial Pemaquid (FOCP) continues its 2018 Monday Night Lecture Series with an evening program entitled, “Defenses Along the Kennebec: Four Forts One Story,” presented by Linda Novak.

Four Forts One Story will explain the settlement of the central Kennebec River Valley on land previously owned by the Clark and Lake Proprietors and the Plymouth Proprietors. The lecture is free to members, $5 for non-members.

Linda Novak has been the director and curator of Fort Western for the past eight years. She graduated from UMO with a BA in anthropology as well as the College of William and Mary in Virginia with a MA in anthropology, specializing in historic archaeology. She has worked as a historic archaeologist and in the museum field for over 30 years specializing in 17th and 18th century life.

Attendees are invited to take advantage of the Lecture Night Dinner Special at the Contented Sole Restaurant on FOCP lecture nights. There will be a 15 percent discount off the menu price for all food items consumed in the restaurant between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The 15 percent discount includes entrees, starters and desserts, but is not extended to bar and drink items.

Directions: Colonial Pemaquid is located off Route 130, 12 miles south of Route 1 and three miles north of the Pemaquid Lighthouse. On Route 130 from Damariscotta, turn right onto Huddle Road and follow signs to Colonial Pemaquid. From Route 32 in New Harbor, turn left onto Route 130 and then immediately right onto Snowball Hill Road, following signs to Colonial Pemaquid. The Contented Sole Restaurant is located adjacent to the museum at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site
