Damariscotta Montessori School celebrated kindergarten and eighth grade graduations and stepping up ceremonies for Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary on Friday, June 12.

Each level had its own contact distant commencement outdoors with just the students, who are moving up, and their immediate families in attendance. Families remained in circles painted on the lawn while graduates picked up their diplomas and Montessori marbles from the table.

Two eighth grade graduates, Grace Greene of Wiscasset and Jonas Stepanauskas of Nobleboro performed for their classmates and families, singing farewell songs. Families noted how nice it was for the children to come back to school to celebrate in person, even if the ceremonies were more intimate than the customary graduation and included safety precautions.
