Cynthia J. Thompson Dodge, 93, of Southport Island, passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 2018 at Miles Hospital in Damariscotta.

Being an organized person that Cynthia was, she left behind the following to be included in her obituary:

“I was born on Aug. 14, 1925 to Herbert and Esther Winslow Thompson. My dad, grandfather and great-grandfather ran the Thompson Ice House in South Bristol and it is now a historical museum.

I married Walton L. Dodge of Newcastle in 1942, son of Wilder and Roxie Dodge and we had three children, Janice, Wayne and Elaine. We had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

My husband died in 1994, my son in 1993, and my daughter, Elaine, in 2013.

A family graveside service is my request. The same as we held for my husband in the Highland Cemetery, Dodge Road, Edgecomb.”

Cynthia’s family would like to add that she was the business manager for the Middle Street Garage in Wiscasset alongside he husband Walton for many years until their retirement. She was a housekeeper at the Pioneer Motel and a loving childcare provider to many. Cynthia enjoyed daily long walks, tending to her gardens and was an avid game player. She particularly loved the game of Parcheesi and taught those who played with her how to lose gracefully. Cynthia was an excellent cook and could always be relied upon to have a stash of Devil Dogs ready for anyone who stopped by for a visit. Cynthia was an amazing, independent woman, loving mother and grandmother, devoted wife and friend to many. She taught all those around her the importance of proper manners and remembrance of family heritage.

Cynthia will be greatly missed by many and leaves behind her sister, Ramona, who has been her companion and closet friend in her later years, as well as daughter Janice, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to the Thompson Ice House, P.O. Box 216, South Bristol, ME 04568.

In accordance of her wishes, the family will hold a private graveside service at a future date.
