Long before anime became a worldwide cultural phenomenon, “Rocky Horror Picture Show” fans perfected the art of “cosplay” — dressing up as their favorite characters and performing in sync with the movie.

On Saturday evening, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m, Cupacity (123 Main St.) brings all the fun to Damariscotta for a single showing with a social distancing twist: the screening will be held outside with patio lamps to warm up the proceedings and the audience will be limited to 25 attendees.

“Just come in costume, and mask up in time-honored Dr. Frank-N-Furter style,” says Cupacity owner, Susan Murphy. “We’ll provide the traditional Rocky Horror prop bags, of course, but in light of recent supply chain shortages, toilet paper will be reduced to several sheets instead of the traditional Scott’s full 1-ply septic-safe roll.”

Tickets for the event are $10 and include a loaded hummus plate for refueling between dance numbers. Tickets are available in advance only via the Cupacity website, www.cupacitycoffee.com or by calling 563-6127.  Individual beers and wine by the glass will be available for $5 each. Meanwhile, Cupacity neighbor DuJardin will be tending the Back Bar, mixing up special Rocky Horror themed non-alcoholic Wildcraft Cocktails like the “Time Warp,” “Frank” and “Janet” priced at $6 each.

Plus, every ticket purchaser will be automatically enrolled in a door prize drawing, with the winner getting to go home with a life-size cardboard cutout of Frank N. Furter himself. “Rocky Horror fans will not want to miss this chance to come up to the Cupacity lab and see what’s on the slab,” Murphy promises.

Cupacity was founded in 2019 as an artisanal cafe serving the best in Maine-crafted beverages and locally sourced tapas and light bites while presenting a diverse selection of curated arts and social events.
