Coulombe working with nonprofits to redistribute Rocktide items
Paul Coulombe recently announced the purchase of the Rocktide Inn and Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor. His plans are to revitalize the property and part of that plan is to work with area nonprofits to redistribute furniture and household items for people who are in need. A meeting was held Friday, Jan. 27 at the Boothbay Harbor Country Club with John Suczynski, president, BHCC and Melissa Neel, vice president of operations, to discuss the logistics for this planned day-long event. The nonprofit agencies present included the Boothbay Region Community Resources Council, the Boothbay Region Community Center, the Boothbay Region Food Pantry, Rebuilding Together, Rotary Club of Boothbay Harbor, and the Boothbay Region YMCA.
Holly Stover, BRCRC and YMCA Board Member and participant said, “We are honored to be part of this region-wide collaborative effort to work alongside other nonprofits to repurpose the Rocktide furniture and household goods. Together, we will make needed connections with people who can really use this stuff. This event is an opportunity to show the way we rise up and take care of each other in our community. We are very grateful to Paul Coulombe and his leadership team for including us all.”
The event will take place on Feb. 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rocktide Inn and Restaurant. There will be volunteers to load donated items and volunteer drivers with trucks that will deliver on the peninsula for those who have no other way to transport large items. Inventory that will be available that day includes queen and full mattresses, bed frames, headboards, night stands, dressers, writing desks, chairs, sheets, towels, blankets, comforters and pillows. There will also be other assorted dishes and silverware. These items are donated for personal and household use and are not intended for resale. All items are in “as is” condition.
If you have questions about the Feb. 11 event, you can call Heather Lorrain at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor at 633-4757.
The snow date for this event is Feb. 18.
