Mary Ellen Barnes, director for the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, is pleased to announce the welcomed addition of summer intern Colleen Hendricks. Colleen was chosen from a myriad of applicants to the Maine Government Summer Internship coordinated by the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center, UMaine to be part of and learn the planning commissions responsibilities and duties.

As a youngster, Colleen was always interested in the outdoors and a stint at the Coastal Studies for Girls in Freeport helped motivate her continued desire to know more about the environment. Wanting a broader perspective, Colleen chose environmental studies as her major at University of Maine at Machias. Conveniently, she is a resident of Wiscasset.

This internship with LCRPC will help Colleen to have a better working knowledge of the planning office, its inter-connectivity with the towns and Lincoln County that it serves, and a familiarity with town government and their needs.

Colleen was born in Maine to a family with a dad who was a career Navy serviceman and now retired and finishing up studies at University of Maine, and a mom, also a University of Maine graduate, working in the mental health field. Colleen enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking and hanging with friends. Colleen’s ultimate goal is to find a position in an environmental-related field so she can continue her love of the outdoors.

Stop by the LCRPC office at 297 Bath Road to say hello to Colleen.
