Coastal Job Fair April 28
The public is invited to the first-ever Coastal Job Fair from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at the Boothbay Region YMCA.
A group of 20-plus local businessmen known as “The Taverneers” are bringing regional job seekers and employers together for the job fair. The Taverneers originated in 2014 to promote local economic development.
The Taverneers are partnering with the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce and Maine Department of Labor in sponsoring the event. The chamber is promoting the job fair by contacting its nearly 400-plus membership, and providing and processing application forms for businesses paying for table space.
The job fair will include businesses from the Boothbay peninsula along with Wiscasset, Damariscotta and Bath.
Organizers scheduled a five-hour job fair hoping to attract a large contingent of high school students.
The Taverneers also had a second reason for hosting the event in Boothbay Harbor. They wanted job seekers to see the community’s beauty, hoping to attract more year-round residents.
The Taverneers hope this is the first of many projects it will work on with the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce.
