Coastal Drift bike group coming to Boothbay Harbor
The Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church will again host the Coastal Drift bicycling group, Bike and Build, on Thursday, June 8.
Coastal Drift, according to its website, bikeandbuild.org, is a three-week regional ride (this year beginning June 4) along the Atlantic coast, from Maine's Acadia National Park to New York City.
The group of about 30 bikers helps with affordable housing building projects along its pre-mapped route and is hosted by churches and other organizations.
The bikers will be able to use the Boothbay Region YMCA upon their arrival from Rockland, Maine on June 8. That day, Boothbay Harbor and Southport Methodist Church members will provide a supper for the group. The group will stay overnight in Boothbay Harbor and on June 9, before moving on to Portland for a build day, the East Boothbay Methodist Church will host a breakfast for the bikers.
