In response to the letter of last week regarding the activities during the festival, I wish to acknowledge the true excellence of our local Coast Guard personnel and the Coast Guard in general. 

This branch of the federal service is always in harm's way to assist and service us and truly deserves our gratitude. 

I, for one, will always thank them for the dedication displayed to us including their continuing volunteer work with local groups in addition to their duties on our behalf.
