Dec. 15 is important for Boothbay Region Health Center. That’s the deadline to receive up to $100,000 in matching funds from a private grant.

According to BRHC board president Patricia B. Seybold, a year-round resident who does not want to be identified offered the grant.

To get the full amount, BRHC must also receive 1,000 contributions of $100 or more each from people and businesses by Dec. 15, Seybold said.

Seybold further explained, “If we receive, for example, 1,000 donations of $100 each, we will get $200,000; not $100,000. If we receive only $30,000 worth of donations, we'll only have $60,000 in total.”

Seybold said the grant and other contributions will go to startup and operating costs which will allow the Center to offer healthcare services at the lowest fees in the region. Still in its first year, the Health Center in the Meadow Mall is now visited by people from other parts of Lincoln County due to its availability and pricing, Seybold said.

The Health Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Call 633-1075 for appointments or to speak to a provider who is on call 24/7.
