Clamshell Quilters May 9 meeting
The Faith Baptist Church in Newcastle will be open at 2 p.m. May 9 for a sew and chat session before our regular meeting. Don't forgot to bring your own food and beverage if you plan on staying throughout the afternoon and evening. At 5:30 p.m. Joanne Minot will host Maine quilter and fabric/quilt historian Wendy Caton Reed who will present a trunk show of "potholder" quilts and demonstrate how to make them. A potholder quilt is made up of individually finished squares that are sewn together. Wendy is the co-coordinator with Cyndi Black of Maine Quilt Heritage, established for the purpose of documenting the quilts and quiltmakers of Maine. She is a charter member of the American Quilter's Society, and has served on the board of the American Quilt Study Group. Her quilts have been on display and have received awards at art exhibitions and quilt shows throughout the country and have been featured in many national publications.
In addition, our Bento Box quilts will be on display before they are distributed. Invite your friends; everyone is welcome.
Cindy Delong will distribute Block 5 directions to those of us working on the Mystery Quilt and she will have Maine Quilts 2016 raffle tickets for sale.
Jan Wooler's committee is getting ready for our June 13 auction. They have been organizing donations and still welcome more. Craft and fabric items can be dropped off at the May meeting, or you can contact Jan at 644-0327 or jerwooler@outlook.com
