‘Candid Camera,’ auxiliary style
Susann Hochstein, Laura Zajdel, Irene Gerny and Nancy Hurst provide a proud backdrop to VP Laura Zajdel’s brainchild, the new St. Andrews Auxiliary slideshow!
The slideshow was simultaneously rolled out at five sites throughout the area including the Thrift Shop and other St. Andrews locations. If you haven’t seen it yet and happen to visit St. Andrews Village, the Urgent Care campus, or the Thrift Shop, look for the video screen and take a few minutes to see what the SA Auxiliary has been up to! If you are an auxiliary member or volunteer you may find yourself or a friend captured in one or more of the photos of people having fun while doing good things for the community.
Money raised through the Thrift Shop covers medical career scholarships, donations of medical equipment and supplies, and assistance with living expenses for the Tufts Medical Student Program. The shop also fills a need within the community to provide clothing and other items at low cost and helps with clothing and household items in housing related emergencies. Volunteers also give many hours of direct community service at St. Andrews Village.
There is a current and ongoing need for more volunteers at the Gregory Wing so look for membership forms wherever you see the digital photo displays; take a few and reach out to friends, newcomers and colleagues who may want to volunteer. Contact membership chair, Susann Hochstein, at sue.hochstein@gmail.com if you have any questions regarding the work of the Auxiliary.
Laura Zajdel, vice president of the Auxiliary, believes the organization has a compelling story and a rich history to share. She further believes that shining a spotlight on the good works of the Auxiliary will spark the enthusiasm necessary to entice members of the community to join the ranks of the organization to further its mission to encourage and support health and wellness on the Boothbay peninsula.
To this end, Zajdel’s new slideshow project was launched at the Auxiliary ‘Spring Bling’ Luncheon being hosted by St Andrews Village. The idea is to clarify the Auxiliary role through captioned photos which capture not only the fun and camaraderie of social events, but also a visual account of Auxiliary sponsored scholarships, community service, donations of medical equipment and supplies, and volunteers at work in the community.
There is a current and ongoing need for additional volunteers at the Gregory Wing so look for membership forms wherever you see the digital photo displays; take a few and reach out to friends, newcomers and colleagues to join our efforts.
Volunteering is a way of life for many on the Boothbay peninsula. Join the Auxiliary and find out why. Membership forms are always available at the St Andrews Thrift Shop and questions can be directed to any of the “blue aprons” at the shop or contact Laura Zajdel at lczajdel@yahoo.com for more information.
