If your son or daughter is interested in playing lacrosse this spring, the Boothbay Region YMCA is fielding five teams. For the girls, a 3-4 grade, 5-6 grade and 7-8 grade team. For the boys, there will be a grades 3-4 and a grades 5-6 team.

Registration began on Monday, March 25 both at the Y Front Desk and online at www.boothbayregionymca.org/. On Thursday, March 28, 5:30 p.m., in the YMCA Coastal Club room the Y is holding a parent meeting for those who have returning players as well as those who are new to the team. Practices this year begin the week of April 8 and will be held five days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 p.m., and from 4-5:30 on Tuesday and Thursday at the Clifford Park Field. In case of rain, the YMCA Field House has been scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday from 4

5:30 p.m. each week. Two practices a week are mandatory to play in Saturday games for the 3-4 and 5-6 boy’s and girl’s teams, and weekday games for the 7-8 grade girl’s team.

Games will begin Saturday, April 27 and end June 8, with a rain date of June 15 for a make-up game if necessary.

Lacrosse clinics

The clinics are for returning players and to encourage new players to come and meet the coaches as well as learn about the fastest growing sport in New England.

A boy’s lacrosse clinic will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Y Field House.

A girl’s clinic will be held on Thursday, April 4, 4-5:30 p.m. in the Field House.
