BRHS principal announces National Honor Society honorees
Boothbay Region High School Principal Dan Welch announced that 20 students have been selected for induction into the National Honor Society.
Welch said the students met the four criteria for NHS selection — character, service, leadership and scholarship. “Once a student enters their junior or senior year, if they have an 85 grade point average or above, they are eligible to apply for induction,” Welch said. The society looks at a student’s community involvement, extra curricular activities, academics, and teacher and coach recommendations.
“This is the largest number of students I’ve seen since I’ve been here,” said Welch.
The inductees are Erica Eames, Carter Babcock, Emma Rideout, Kyle Ames, Page Brown, Evy Case, Summer Chamberlin, Connor Demmons, Hailey Greenleaf, ReAnna Heino, Madeleine McLellan, Jackie McLoon, Sydney Meader, Sydney Mercier, Sienna Murray, JoAnna Shaw, Lillian Sherburne, Nicolas Simpson, Denise Stover and Lovely Uburita.
Welch said a formal induction ceremony is being planned.
