BRES student leadership kicks off Dec. 6-17 food drive
This year at Boothbay Region Elementary School (BRES), the 7th and 8th grade Student Leadership Group is organizing a food drive. When the group talked about organizing a food drive, it was clear the main goal was to get the community involved in a good cause. The food collected at the drive will be donated to the local Boothbay Region Food Pantry where it will be distributed to those in need. Students, parents, and members of the community can drop off donated food at the front door of BRES and the Boothbay Harbor YMCA. Boxes in these areas will be open for donations starting December 6th through December 17th. The best foods to donate are canned foods, peanut butter and other nut butters, grains like rice and pasta, seeds, dried fruits, milk substitutes, honey and other non-perishable foods.
The students in the BRES Leadership Group made posters and are keeping track of the donations and delivering the donations when the food drive is over. These students are Abigail Orchard, Aileigh Johnson, Bailey Lewis, Casey Phelps, Eleanor Marshall, Ella Watts, Griffin Yereance, Jayden Jordan, Kora McKenny, Luci-Anne Jones, Matthew Little, Tatum French, Trey Tibbetts and William Sledge. The supervisors of the group are Guidance Counselor Sarah Gordon, Assistant Principal Matthew Lindemann and Principal Shawna Kurr.
Any donations to the BRES Food Drive will help our community. This organization’s purpose is to bring our community together to help those in need, so helping donate whatever you can will make an impact.
