Boyce M. Brewer

Boyce M. “Bo” Brewer passed away Aug. 23, 2022 in his sleep.

Burial will be Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Bushnell Veterans Cemetery. On Oct. 1, a celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 36 at 1:30 p.m. for both Bo and Millie Brewer.

Bo was born Oct. 7, 1937 in the family living room to Harold and Ruth (Sherman) Brewer on Spruce point joining his three brothers George, Allen, Earl and sister Eldena.

Bo attended schools in Boothbay Harbor and at age 18, Bo and Leo Peters walked to Wiscasset to join the Army. Bo was stationed in Fort Campbell in Kentucky with the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper and also served in Germany. Bo was so excited when 50 years later almost to the day, his grandson David was stationed with the 101st. Bo was able to return to his original base and stood on the tarmac again watching his grandson return from Iraq. After serving four years in the Army, he was honorably discharged and moved to Fort Lauderdale where his sister and brothers George and Earl were living with their families. Bo soon met Millicent Roeder and they married on Sept. 24,1961. Soon after, Bo started his plumbing career. While living in Sunrise, Florida they started a family having a son and daughter.

In 1970 Bo and Millie moved the family back to Boothbay Harbor, where Bo was a pipefitter for Maine Yankee. 

On Oct. 6, 1976, Bo and Millie purchased Boothbay Fuel, which they owned and operated until their retirement.

Bo belonged to the Lions Club, Boosters Club and attended the Community Church.

Bo and Millie were very avid followers of Boothbay region athletics and USM women’s basketball, following their children and grandchildren around the state. 

Bo was predeceased by by his wife Millie of 61 years.

Bo is survived by his daughter Dee Brewer of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter Katie Sibley of Dresden, Maine; and grandson David and Jess Sibley of Altoona, Wisconsin and three great-grandchildren Kiara, Grayson and Addie.
