The Boothbay/Wiscasset girls cross country team had a lot of “faith” they could win the Sept. 19 Mountain Valley Conference Midseason meet, but came up short in receiving the “glory.”

Boothbay/Wiscasset’s Faith and Glory Blethen finished as the meet’s top two runners, but the team finished second in the four-team meet. Monmouth finished first with 38 points followed by Boothbay/Wiscasset (49), Winthrop (55) and Oak Hill (84).

Faith Blethen was the top finisher with a 21:35 time. Glory Blethen finished 35 seconds later. Boothbay/Wiscasset had four other runners finish in the top 28. Lily Yeaton finished in 18th place in 28:02. Maria West was 23rd in 28:39. Delly Clarkson finished 24th in 28:41. Grace Campbell finished 28th with a 29:39 time.
