Boothbay takes down Phoenix

The Boothbay Region High School girls varsity basketball team improved to 13-0 with a 54-35 win over the Spruce Mountain Phoenix Friday night in Jay.

The Seahawks jumped out to a 17-7 first quarter lead and led at every quarter break.

Faith Blethen again led Boothbay in scoring with 18 points (two 3-pointers). Fellow senior Ashley Abbott added 14 points (three 3-pointers) and junior Josey Smith had six points on two 3-pointers.

Spruce Mountain, now 7-6, was led by Jaycee Cole with 10 points (two 3-pointers) and Julianne Ooiron with nine points. Scoring six points each were Calley Baker and Kaylin Knowlton.

Second-seeded Winthrop (10-1) is next on the Seahawks schedule. The Ramblers will travel to Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
