Boothbay Shores parking blocked
Dear Editor:
I recently drove the circle road, King Phillips Trail on Boothbay Shores, and was surprised and distressed that boulders had been placed blocking parking at the south end of the road. I, along with many others, have used that area for years to park my car while walking my dog. The rocky shores of the Damariscotta River are now also virtually inaccessible. They have been a favorite spot for families and their children for exploring tides pools.
The town office informed me that adjacent property owners were responsible for placing the barriers and are in their rights to do so, I believe that, regardless of legality, it is a significant loss to the community to be excluded from areas long open to all. If open access spaces are chipped away we will no longer be the community that we cherish.
