Last week, at the Maine Rural Water Association Annual Conference Dec. 7-9, the Boothbay Region Water District received two awards; The Best Tasting Water – Disinfected Division and the Andrews Tolman Source Water Award , of which both are prestigious awards for any district.

The Best Tasting Water – Disinfected Division is an annual award to a community water system that uses disinfectants in its treatment process, with the best tasting water. Winning this award is a tribute to all staff at the district due to excellent operations of the Adams Pond Treatment Plant and skilled professionals ensuring the safe delivery of water to our 4,000 customers. This award is a peer-based competition where being judged as the best in Maine is a great honor showing the pride and performance of the staff of the district.

The Andrews Tolman Source Water Award  is an annual award presented to a community water system that has gone above and beyond in protecting its water supply. This year the district’s natural resources program, led by Sue Mello, Natural Resources Program manager, was recognized for its extraordinary performance in long-term protection efforts ensuring Adams Pond and Knickerbocker Lake remain as clean as possible to meet the water needs of the Boothbay region. This award was selected by MRWA staff in consultation with various Maine regulating agencies. It is a true honor to be recognized for the district’s first rate efforts in protecting its water sources.

The board of trustees are very impressed and proud of staff for the effort put in resulting in these two awards.
