Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund: One small community, one large impact
A total of over $1,000,000.00 was granted to graduates of Boothbay Region High School between the years 2015-2017. Through the combined efforts and commitment of the Boothbay region community, the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund, and other generous contributors, this year’s total of over $400,000 was granted to 78 recipients. A new record! Of that total number, 21 are new BRHS graduates, 57 are returning sophomores, juniors and seniors. Four recipients are working toward graduate degrees. The average grant for 2017 was $5,175.00.
As the cost of higher education increases, so does the commitment of the BRSAF to assist BRHS graduates in the field of their choice and continuation of their education. The goal of the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund is to assure the future growth of award amounts. It is important to remember that these are grants and not loans. While the awards from the BRSAF are not academic-merit-based, they support the aspirations of BRHS graduates to further their education in whatever field they choose; these grants support the goals and dreams of our graduates. Nothing stands alone in this world, and so, by supporting BRHS graduates, we are strengthening and supporting our community.
