Boothbay Region Lions Club
Boothbay Region Lions have partnered with Nathan's Pharmacy of Boothbay Harbor. One of the pillars Lions International members and clubs support is diabetes. Our club has donated funds to Nathan's to be used for diabetics here on the peninsula. Having trouble affording diabetes supplies? Do you go without test strips or other supplies because you cannot afford them? If this is you, please talk to a staff member at Nathan's about receiving help from this donation. At this time there are other available programs that help with meds so we are offering support with supplies or equipment. No form to fill out, no proof of income, just talk to a staff member. The Lion motto is "We Serve” and we are always looking at areas to do that.
In other good news for our club we have gained a new member. Scott Barter is our newest Lion and Zone Chair Sandie O’Farrell from Waldoboro installed him at our last meeting. Welcome Lion Scott!
Members will celebrate the holidays at our December meeting with King Lion Jay Andrews serving up prime rib. We have plans to deliver Christmas cookies to a local shipyard and we’re finishing up our Christmas Tree ticket raffle.
Our Jan. 8, 2025 meeting will be a ‘working’ meeting so members can regroup and rethink what we stand for, how to gain more members and how best to serve our community. It’s not just about “work" -- we have a lot of fun too. Do you like local trivia? Sometimes the Tail Twister surprises us with trivia that makes you think. If you are searching for a nonprofit to donate your time to, please reach out. We meet the second and fourth Wednesdays at the East Boothbay Fire Department at 6 p.m.
Happy Holidays to all!
