Boothbay Region Health Center welcomes new staff
After five months of front office staffing shortages, we’re happy to report the arrival of two very seasoned professionals to handle front office duties and assist our medical providers. Sherry Moody has joined us as a medical assistant and medical office manager. Susan Gay has joined us as medical receptionist. We are delighted to welcome them both to our medical practice.
Sherry became a nationally certified medical assistant in 2019. She has worked at Kennebec Valley Radiology, Kennebec Valley obGYN, Maine General Health’s Winthrop Family Practice, Freeport Family Medicine, DFD Russell Medical Center in Monmouth, Central Maine Healthcare in Topsham, and Northern Sun Family Healthcare in Topsham. Her duties included both assisting medical providers, drawing labs, medical billing, and all other aspects of running a busy medical office. Susan Gay comes to us from Hannaford Pharmacy, where she served most recently as a pharmacy technician. She is delighted to be joining our staff, and is particularly fond of Dr. Teel, who delivered one of her children.
On the medical provider front, we’re sorry to say that Family Nurse Practitioner Christina Solak has taken family leave in order to care for her ailing mother. Her patients will be seen by Primary Care Provider Melody Rees, in her absence.
New matching grant opportunity
The Health Center has a new Matching Grant Challenge from a grateful patient who wants to match up to $20,000 in donations that come in by Oct. 15. This is your opportunity to support convenient, comprehensive family health care on the Boothbay peninsula. Patients constantly tell us: "This is the most helpful visit I have ever had with a health care provider." They also often say: “I don’t know what we’d do without you!” We know our medical providers excel in diagnosing and treating complex issues, and in providing excellent care. We take the time you need to listen carefully to more than one problem in a single visit. We coach patients to change their lifestyles to healthier ones, and we’re successful in doing so. We make house calls when needed and always try to go the extra mile to ensure that nothing drops through the cavernous black holes in the dysfunctional U.S. health care system. Now that we’re back to adequate staffing, we’re confident we’ll be able to deliver on our commitment to you, our local patients. Since only 50% of our revenues come from medical fees and reimbursement, we ask for your financial support. Send a check today to Boothbay Region Health Center, 185 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. Any check or credit card donation dated by Oct. 15 will qualify to be matched by our donor.
