By nearly a 3:1 margin, Boothbay residents approved the only article on their Nov. 3 special town meeting referendum ballot regarding a complete rewrite and replacement of the municipal zoning ordinances. Residents approved “Shall an ordinance entitled 2020 Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Boothbay which includes, not only the new text, but also a new official zoning map be enacted.”

Voters approved the question 1,452 to 496. The new ordinance does not include a new shoreland zoning or watershed overlay zoning map. The municipal vote replaces zoning ordinances last amended in November 2017.
