Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club
Winter at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club is anything but quiet. While the waterfront may appear serene under a blanket of snow, a flurry of activity takes place behind the scenes to prepare for the upcoming season.
Chris Liberti and his trusted instructors, Caleb Gray and Bobby Clarkson, have been hard at work addressing wear and tear on the Club’s fleet. The Jr. Program and High School Sailing Team boats, including 12 C-420s, 11 Tech Dinghies, 29 Optis, and 4 RS Feva boats, are all receiving the care and attention needed to ensure they’re race-ready come spring.
Meanwhile, members are renewing their memberships for the 2025 season, eager to take part in the Club's activities. Office Manager, Andrea Perkins, has been busy processing dues payments, mooring reservations, and Junior Program registrations every day. As of this writing, over 40 children have already registered for the summer Junior Program, half of whom are new to it.
On the staffing front, BHYC is pleased to announce that most of its seasonal staff will be returning. Laura Francis and Raymond Franklyn will continue to lead the dining room and kitchen teams. Chris Liberti remains at the helm of the Junior Sailing Program, while Alex Maurer will oversee Adult Sailing and Waterfront activities.
Additionally, Rath Schoenthal, the Club’s longtime tennis instructor, has been promoted to Tennis Director. Rath is currently attending college in Colorado but has been diligently interviewing candidates for tennis instructor and apprentice positions. He will return in time for the opening of the Club’s tennis courts.
Once again, our dining room and kitchen crew will represent a diverse array of countries and cultures, including Denmark, Jamaica, Turkey, and Romania, to name a few.
General Manager, Hristo Ivanov, plans to visit Bulgaria in March but will return in time for the Club's external independent audit, scheduled to begin on April 7.
As the days grow longer, the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club is gearing up for another vibrant season, ensuring everything is in place for its members to enjoy the best of what the Club has to offer.
